Week 9

I have completed all of the weeks and have found 2.0 to be interesting and at times frustrating.

I have learnt a bit more about the different names of 2.0 and what they mean and what they are used for. Most of them I wouldn't use but at least I know a little bit more of what people are talking about when I hear names like flickir, tumbler, picnic etc.

Yahoo......................................................the end.

Week 9 E books

I quite enjoyed this part of 2.0, surprise, surprise!!

Net library is ideal for study guides and computer books etc.

I looked up language titles in downloadable media.

I especially liked tumber even though it has childrens books because it is perfect for me to look up childrens french books and read them at the same time as the words are pronounced. You have to start off easy don't you; ha ha.

Week 9 Podcasts

http://londonwalks.libsyn.com/rss

I found podcasts extremely confusing. I tried the other two sites but couldn't get
into them and this site was the only one I could get into. I looked at the top 10 sites and found them to be boring. As travel is my major interest and my husband and I are going to London soon this london walks appealed to me and my husband can download it onto his MP3 player.

Week 9 U-tube

I go into u-tube quite a lot at home because everything and anything is posted on it and it is crazy and fun to look at.

I have chosen a drift video to put on my blog because my son is the person driving in
the white car.

Week 8

Google docs etc. is pretty good because you can access your documents or spreadsheets
etc. from anywhere in the world. It means you don't have to take your personal computer with you.

I looked at the favourites and the short-list and I first went into the travel site but the website was an american one so it wasn't of any use to me. Then I decided to go into goggle maps which I really like because I can be nosey and look at friends houses overseas. Ha ha!!

Week 7 Wikis

It was interesting reading about wikis; in particular the library success one. It gives a lot of tips on readers advisory and lots of related areas to the library i.e. displaying books.

SJCPL subject guide appealed to me to as it was set out with simple headings so it was quick and easy to go straight to what you were interested in.

Booklovers wiki would work well in conjunction with the library and would help with doing book reviews for a book club.

Week 6 Library 2.0

I have found reading about 2.0 very draining and depressing.

I think people searching for particular or hard to find subjects the internet will be the only way to go but I also think that reading a hard book will never completely die away. The next generations coming through will easily adapt to all the latest gadgets etc. that the computer will provide and will probably, if never read a hard cover book. Everything that they will require will be at their fingertips on the computer. The computer will be their world, for knowledge and also their social and emotional life.

Librarians that are coming up in the ranks will be much younger and fully immersed in the internet jargon and technology so they won't require a lot of training.

Week 6 Technorati

I made an account and it was pretty easy to follow and then I claimed my blog. And then I tried to search web 2.0 but couldn't find anything relevant.

I found this site absolutely useless. Most of the time I couldn't find anything related to what I was looking for. e.g. looking up dogs - the search came up with vege dogs!!!

I went to the popular blogs and it said it was unavailable.
